What Darling stores
Darling is a notebook about one partner. Depending on what you choose to enter, it stores:
- Your partner's name or nickname, and optionally pronouns and dates such as a birthday or the day you got together.
- The notes you write, any optional context, and the category, intent and pin state attached to each note.
- Plans, checklists, budgets, dates and reflections you create.
- Special days you add and your reminder preferences.
- App settings, such as whether reminders are on.
All of this is saved in a local database inside the app's private storage on your device. It is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode and encryption.
What Darling does not do
- No accounts. You never sign in, and we do not know who you are.
- No transmission. The app does not send your notes or partner details to us or to anyone else. There is no sync, no cloud backup and no remote AI. Suggestions are computed on your device from your own notes.
- No analytics or tracking. Darling contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting service that uploads data.
- No sale or sharing of data. We have nothing to sell or share.
Notifications
If you turn reminders on, Darling schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming special days and any plans you asked to be reminded about. These are created and delivered by your phone's operating system. No push notification service is involved, and no notification content leaves your device. You can turn reminders off at any time in Settings or in your phone's system settings.
Backups you create
You can export a backup file from Settings. That file contains your notes and other Darling data in plain form. It is handed to your device's share sheet, and where you send it, and how it is protected, is up to you. Restoring a backup replaces the data currently in the app after you confirm. We never receive backup files.
Deleting your data
Settings includes a "Delete all" action that removes every note, plan, special day and partner detail from the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its local database. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Permissions
- Notifications, requested only when you first turn on a reminder.
- Alarms & reminders on Android, optional, so reminders can be delivered at the exact minute.
- Files, only through the system picker when you export or restore a backup.
Darling does not request access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera.
This website
If you join the launch waitlist on darling.giandenorte.com, the email address you enter is sent to Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, which forwards it to us by email. We use it only to send one message when Darling launches, and you can ask us to remove it at any time. The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs.
Children
Darling is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever gains a feature that changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that feature ships, and the effective date above will change.
